A sauna bath is known as a small room interior as a place to experience dry or wet heating sessions, or an establishment with one or more of these facilities. Bathers sweat due to steam and high heat.
Sauna bathing (pronounced as sow-nah) has been used for centuries not only as a place to bathe, but also as a place for healing, relaxation, and enjoyment. Sauna bath was originally developed in Finland about 2000 years ago, sauna bathing provides an environment of dry intense heat (176-212 degrees Fahrenheit). We know that Saunas have been used for thousands of years and are still popular now. Saunas can help people relax and unwind, and it may have other health benefits.
A sauna is a room typically heated between 70° to 100°C or 158° to 212°F. Traditional Finnish saunas typically use dry heat, with a relative humidity that is often between 10 and 20 percent. In other sauna types, the humidity is higher. For example, Turkish-style saunas tend to have higher humidity levels.
Types of Sauna:
There are different types of sauna baths available:
Wood burning: In this system, wood is used to heat the sauna room and sauna rocks. Wood-burning saunas are typically low in humidity and high in temperature.
Electrically Heated: These are similar to wood-burning saunas, electrically heated saunas have higher temperatures and lower humidity. An electric heater attached to the floor heats the sauna room.
Infrared room: Far-infrared saunas (FIRS) differ from wood-burning and electrically heated saunas. Special lamps use light waves to heat a person's body, not the entire room. The temperature is usually lower than in other saunas, but the person sweats in a similar way. Typically, infrared saunas are around 60 °C.
Steam Rooms: These are different from saunas. Instead of dry heat, steam rooms include high humidity and moist heat.
